Mizoram: ZPM leader V Zisanga to to be new LADC CEM

Guwahati: Zoram People’s Movement (ZPM) leader V Zirsanga is set to be sworn in as the new Chief Executive Member (CEM) of the Lai Autonomous District Council (LADC) in Mizoram on Thursday.

This development comes after the Mizo National Front (MNF)-Congress coalition executive committee collapsed on February 12, following the resignation of CEM C Lalmuanthanga.

Zirsanga’s appointment was approved by Mizoram Governor Vijay Kumar Singh on Monday. The LADC has been instructed to hold a special session for a floor test to prove Zirsanga’s majority within 30 days of his appointment.

The current council composition stands at 13 members from ZPM, 11 from MNF, and 1 from Congress. Zirsanga and another MNF member, Lallawmsanga Apetow, had earlier declared their support for ZPM, leading to a shift in the council’s dynamics.
