M’laya Launches E-court fee system

Guwahati: Meghalaya Chief Justice Sanjib Banerjee launched the e-court fee system in the state in an effort to make paying court fees easier, officials said as reported by PTI.

People can conveniently make payments using the internet-based e-court fee system without having to deal with the difficulties of obtaining actual judicial stamps.

According to the officials, Meghalaya is the 17th state in the nation to use the system.

Speaking on the occasion on Tuesday, Justice Sanjib Banerjee said that Meghalaya would remember this day as a significant one since the system would make it easier to seek justice in some cases.

He expressed the desire for Bar Association members to become familiar with the new application.

Law Minister James P K Sangma, during the launch programme, said the system would be of benefit to people and the government alike with its faster processing mechanism, safe and accurate collection technique and single point remittance.
