Monsoon Fury Batters Northeast: Scindia Assures Full Central Support
Union Minister for Development of North Eastern Region (DoNER) and Communications, Jyotiraditya M. Scindia, has voiced grave concern regarding the escalating flood and landslide crisis gripping several Northeastern states. Unrelenting heavy rainfall has exacerbated the situation, prompting the Minister to closely monitor developments and extend a proactive hand of support.
In a series of urgent telephonic conversations, Minister Scindia reached out to the Chief Ministers of Sikkim and Assam, as well as the Governor of Manipur, pledging the Centre’s unwavering commitment to comprehensive relief and rehabilitation efforts. Speaking with Sikkim Chief Minister Prem Singh Tamang, Scindia conveyed that the Union Government stands in solidarity with the people of the Himalayan state during this challenging period. A similar message of reassurance and an offer of all necessary aid was extended to Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma, whose state is also battling the monsoon’s wrath.
Furthermore, Minister Scindia engaged with Manipur Governor Ajay Kumar Bhalla to receive a direct assessment of the ground situation, reiterating the Centre’s pledge of steadfast assistance to the flood and landslide-hit regions. The Minister also took to social media platform X to express his solidarity with the affected states, reaffirming the Union Government’s dedication to a swift and coordinated response aimed at mitigating the widespread crisis.
