Moral Policing: 2 Women Harassed & Dhaba Vandalised in Barpeta

Guwahati: As many as two young women were harassed by a group of individuals along the Beki River bridge on National Highway 31 in Assam’s Barpeta Road in a case of moral policing.

The women were attacked by the mob after they were accused of engaging in immoral acts at a local dhaba.

According to reports, the women were pulled out of the dhaba and subjected to verbal abuse as well as physical violence by members of the public for engaging in immoral acts there. The mob then proceeded to break inside the dhaba and loot the place.

Even a men beat up a customer who was in the dhaba.

However, the promptness of a few young people managed to save the two young women some how.

The young women are from Pathshala and the other is from Rangia.

The women were later handed over to the Barpeta Road police.

Meanwhile, people are waiting to see what measures the police will take against those who have taken the law into their hands.
