Morphine & Illegal Cigarettes Seized from Rajdhani Express in Guwahati
Guwahati: In the ongoing war against drugs, Guwahati Police seized a huge quantity of Morphine and illegal cigarettes from two Rajdhani Express Train in Guwahati, a senior official said on Thursday.
Three persons were also arrested in connection to it.
Officials informed that the morphine and illegal cigarettes worth Rs 74 lakhs in the international market.
In the first incident, two persons were arrested with 0.73 kg of morphine and 20,503 cigarettes from the Rajdhani Express by the Guwahati GRP unit on Wednesday.
”They were reportedly carrying the morphine from Dimapur to Lucknow. The approximate cost of the drug recovered is Rs 70 lakh. Legal action has been initiated”, as per police official said.
In the second incident, another person was apprehended with 200 bundles of illegal cigarettes from the Dibrugarh-New Delhi Rajdhani Express, the official said.
Reportedly, the person was carrying the contraband from Dimapur to Allahabad. The approximate cost of the recovered cigarettes is Rs 4 lakh”.
As per the police official said, an investigation has been started into the matter.
