Mother-Son Duo Among Three KCP (PSC) Cadres Arrested in Manipur
Imphal: Security forces in Manipur arrested three active cadres of the proscribed Kangleipak Communist Party (Progressive Socialist Council) [KCP (PSC)] on August 28, including a rare mother-son duo, in a series of counter-insurgency operations.
The first arrest took place at Minuthong in Imphal East district, where personnel apprehended Mutum Leishemba Meitei alias Pari (25) of Lamdeng Khunou, Imphal West. Officials said he was actively engaged in extortion activities targeting residents in the valley areas.
His interrogation led to a follow-up raid at Hiyanglam Awang Leikai in Kakching district, where security forces arrested Maibam Indira Devi (50) and her son Ronaldo Maibam (25). Both were identified as active members of KCP (PSC).
Authorities recovered six mobile phones and two Aadhaar cards from their possession, which are suspected to have been used in facilitating the outfit’s unlawful activities. Security agencies described the arrests as a significant blow to extortion networks operating under the banned group in the state.
