Mother-son duo arrested for organ trade racket

Guwahati: A mother and son duo who were engaged in an organ trade racket were arrested by the Morigaon Police from Dharamtul.

As per police, the duo was luring locals into trading in their kidneys for a huge amount of money. It has been alleged that the duo has been targetting people who have been hit with the COVID-19 pandemic and are running low on finances. Some of them were people who were not being able to pay off loans that they had taken from individuals or microfinance companies.

Police sources added that the arrested persons related to the racked have been identified to be Lilimai Boro, Mintu Boro, and Ramen Medhi. Medhi was also involved in the trading of organs.

So far it was revealed that the duo has duped 10 persons from the Dakhin Dharamtul village.
