Guwahati: The Madhya Pradesh police detained Mirchi Baba, also known as Baba Vairagyanand Giri, on rape-related accusations on Tuesday.
According to an official quoted by ANI, the culprit has been taken into custody.
According to Bhopal ACP Nidhi Saxena, an investigation is continuing after a case was filed under section 376 of the IPC.
The self-described godman had promised to commit “jal samadhi” if Congress politician Digvijiya Singh lost the Lok Sabha election in 2019, but was prevented from doing so by the presence of police. He had performed a yajna for Singh’s victory.
