MP’s MPLADS Initiative Transforms School Libraries, Follow-up Assessment Commences
GANGTOK: In a move lauded as both proactive and effective, Sikkim’s Lok Sabha MP, Dr. Indra Hang Subba, is actively ensuring that developmental funds translate into tangible benefits for the state’s education sector. Under the Member of Parliament Local Area Development Scheme (MPLADS), Dr. Subba had previously initiated the distribution of a wide array of educational resources, including modern equipment like computers, printers, and projectors, alongside essential furniture such as bookshelves and computer tables, to government schools and NGOs throughout Sikkim.
The focus of the initiative is to bridge the gap in educational infrastructure and provide students with the tools required for a contemporary learning environment. To ensure the optimal utilisation of these resources, a meticulous monitoring and assessment drive was launched today. The task of overseeing this vital follow-up falls to Officer on Special Duty (OSD) Nosang Limboo. The first stop on this assessment tour was the Government Senior Secondary School in Kechuperi, located in Gyalshing District. During his visit, Limboo meticulously inspected the newly equipped library and school offices. He noted with satisfaction that the distributed items were being used effectively, validating the positive impact of the scheme.
The Principal of the school, Rudra Mani Sharma, conveyed his profound gratitude to the MP, highlighting the transformative effect of the support. Sharma specifically praised the follow-up assessment, describing it as an unusual yet highly commendable step that guarantees the resources are not just received but are also being put to their intended use. Former school in-charge Shri Laal Man Limboo also joined the visiting officer, providing insights into how the new facilities have integrated into the school’s daily operations. This rigorous and transparent approach to project implementation is setting a new benchmark for development initiatives in the region.
