MSME Ministry Hosts Yashasvini Campaign Workshop in Guwahati, Focuses on Empowering Aspiring Entrepreneurs

Guwahati, 5th October – The Ministry of Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises (MSME) conducted a programme on the Yashasvini Campaign along with a Composite Awareness Workshop in Guwahati on October 5, aimed at benefiting individuals aspiring to start their own businesses. The event was held under the Raising and Accelerating MSME Performance (RAMP) Programme in Assam.

Joint Secretary of MSME, Mercy Epao, delivered the welcome address, outlining how the RAMP Programme would assist those aiming to establish their businesses. Additionally, a film on the Yashasvini Campaign was screened to raise awareness about its objectives.

Union Minister of State for MSME, Sushri Shobha Karandlaje, addressed the gathering, highlighting the government’s commitment to empowering women entrepreneurs, referring to them as “Lakhpati Didi.” She emphasized the importance of accessing facilities like the ESI Card and Ayushman Card and suggested initiatives to help women entrepreneurs establish their businesses as recognisable brands.

Former MP Queen Oja highlighted the progress women in Assam are making in various fields and discussed the government’s ongoing efforts to support them. She also endorsed the “Vocal for Local” initiative, encouraging the growth of local businesses.

Dr. Lakshman S., Secretary of Industries for the Government of Assam, explained the purpose of the Yashasvini Campaign, which aims to offer maximum support and guidance to women entrepreneurs. He also discussed the increasing Udyam registrations over the past two and a half years and outlined initiatives such as the Assam Credit Guarantee Scheme.

Manish Sinha, CEO of the Credit Guarantee Trust for Micro and Small Enterprises (CGTMSE), spoke on the significance of MSMEs as an engine of growth, contributing to GDP, exports, and employment generation. He emphasized the importance of the Credit Guarantee Scheme in supporting the MSME sector.

The event also featured awareness sessions on credit, training, financial literacy, and online dispute resolution. Certificates were presented to PMV artisans and successful PMEGP entrepreneurs. The programme was attended by senior officials from central and state governments, women entrepreneurs from across the state, and other distinguished guests.
