MSMEPCI Unveils New Schemes to Boost Nagaland’s Economy and Create 10,000 Jobs
Northeast Desk, 27th August: The Micro Small and Medium Enterprise Promotion Council of India (MSMEPCI) is launching two ambitious schemes designed to invigorate local businesses and agriculture in Nagaland while generating significant employment opportunities. The Retail Trading Guarantee Scheme (RTGS) and the Kisan Trading Guarantee Scheme (KTGS) are set to be introduced in September and October, respectively.
Pradeep Mishra Sarkar, Chairman of MSMEPCI, announced that the RTGS, scheduled to start on September 15, will focus on enhancing local business operations and increasing income for traders. Meanwhile, the KTGS aims to ensure farmers receive a Minimum Support Price (MSP) for their produce, providing crucial financial support.
The MSMEPCI is partnering with both state and central governments to implement these schemes effectively and raise awareness among beneficiaries. The council’s target is to create 10,000 job opportunities in Nagaland by October and to further expand this to approximately 25,000 jobs statewide within the next year, as part of its 100-day program.
Sarkar emphasized the council’s commitment to Nagaland’s economic growth, stating, “We are committed to supporting MSMEs through advocacy, knowledge sharing, and strategic partnerships to foster a competitive and resilient small business sector.”
Nagaland’s Advisor for Industries and Commerce, Hekani Jakhalu Kense, praised the industrial sector’s impressive growth, noting a rise in the sectoral growth rate from 2.83% in 2012-13 to 12.8% in 2022-23.
