Mumbai: PM Modi conffered with first Lata Deenanath Mangeshkar Award

Guwahati: Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Sunday attended the first Lata Deenanath Mangeshkar Award ceremony in Mumbai. PM Modi was conferred the inaugural Lata Deenanath Mangeshkar Award.

According to a statement from the family and the Master Deenanath Mangeshkar Smruti Pratishthan charity foundation, the award was established in memory of Lata Mangeshkar and will be granted every year to a person for exemplary service to nation building.

The death of Master Deenanath Mangeshkar, the singing legend’s father, falls on April 24th, which is the 80th anniversary of his death.

Veteran actresses Asha Parekh and Jackie Shroff were also honoured for their “dedicated services in the realm of cinema” with the Master Deenanath Puraskar (special honour).

The Master Deenanath Puraskar for Indian music went to Rahul Deshpande, while the finest drama award went to “Sanjay Chaya.”

It may be mentioned that Subhash Desai, a Maharashtra Cabinet member and Shiv Sena leader, had seen the PM at the airport earlier. Aaditya Thackeray, the PM’s protocol minister, was also present to greet him in Mumbai.
