MZP Seeks Safety for Mizo Students in Manipur, Urges Centre for Intervention
Aizawl: The Mizo Zirlai Pawl (MZP), Mizoram’s apex student body, has expressed deep concern for the safety of Mizo students studying in Manipur amidst the ongoing violence. The organization has appealed to the Central government to take immediate steps to ensure the well-being of these students.
In light of the escalating tensions and the recent tragic killings of 10 tribal individuals, the MZP has requested that Mizoram’s quota in technical and medical institutions in Manipur be temporarily transferred to other states until the situation stabilizes.
The student body has also urged the Lalduhoma government to prioritize the safety of the Meitei community residing in Mizoram and has appealed to the Manipuri people to exercise caution and prioritize their own safety.
The MZP has criticized the Centre and the Manipur government for the alleged delay in conducting post-mortem examinations of the 10 tribal victims at Silchar Medical College and Hospital in Assam.
