Naga Republic Day Marked by Firm Stance Against Indian Influence
Kohima: In a resounding address delivered at Hebron during the 46th Republic Day celebrations, Q. Tuccu, President of the Government of the Republic of Nagalim, commemorated the day’s profound historical resonance.
He recalled the momentous declaration of sovereign governance 45 years prior, a testament to the unwavering resolve of the Naga people to uphold their inherent political rights and distinct national identity.
President Tuccu leveled strong criticisms against India’s strategies within the protracted Indo-Naga peace talks, specifically addressing the creation of splinter groups intended to weaken the unified Naga front. He emphatically stated that the Naga people would not compromise their fundamental rights or accept any resolution that falls within the confines of the Indian Constitution, asserting that the Naga movement is fundamentally a pursuit of rectifying long-standing historical injustices.
Paying solemn homage to the countless sacrifices made by Naga freedom fighters and soldiers, President Tuccu underscored the necessity of remaining steadfast in the assertion of Naga national sovereignty. He also drew attention to the critical importance of Nagalim’s natural resources, particularly petroleum, and reiterated the government’s firm opposition to any exploitation of their sovereign wealth by India.
Highlighting the enduring significance of historical accords, notably the Framework Agreement of 2015, President Tuccu called for unwavering unity and resilience in the face of adversity. He designated those who perished in various massacres as “national martyrs” and implored victims to come forward and share their experiences, ensuring that their dignity and rights are acknowledged.
In his concluding remarks, President Tuccu urged the Naga people to maintain their unwavering determination and place their trust in divine guidance, assuring them that ultimate victory is within reach and that the Naga struggle will ultimately achieve its just aims.
