Guwahati: Assam Police arrested a Naga youth for attempting to extort money by identifying himself as an ULFA-I cadre in Charaideo district of Assam.
The arrested youth has been identified as Tingmon Konyak and hails from Mon district of Nagaland.
He was arrested from Namtola in Sonari on Monday.
According to sources, the accused had been using the ULFA-I name to extort money from many businessmen in the Namtola area.
There are also allegations that he pressurized the people to pay the demanded amount.
An interrogation has been launched into the incident.
