Nagaland: 5 Of Family Killed In Fire Likely Caused By Firecrackers In Dimapur

Northeast Desk, 13th November: In a devastating incident during Diwali celebrations, a fire broke out in the Naharbari area of Nagaland’s Dimapur district, claiming the lives of five family members, including three children.

The blaze ignited around 10:45 pm on Sunday, engulfing rows of thatched houses primarily inhabited by a non-Naga community.

The use of firecrackers during Diwali festivities is suspected to have triggered the tragic incident.

Approximately 50 families have been affected by the fire. Despite swift action from six fire tenders, it took nearly two hours to extinguish the flames.

Investigations are underway to determine the exact cause of the fire, and the bodies of the deceased have been handed over to the police.
