Nagaland: Centre and NSCN-(K) Niki Faction Extend Ceasefire Agreement for One Year

Northeast Desk, 5th September: The Government of India and the NSCN-(K) Niki faction have officially agreed to extend their ceasefire agreement for an additional year, starting from September 8, 2024. The decision was formalized during a meeting in New Delhi on September 4, 2024.

The extension was marked by a joint signing between Piyush Goyal, Additional Secretary of the Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA), and representatives from the NSCN-(K) Niki faction, led by Ceasefire Supervisory Board (CFSB) supervisor Abel Zingrü Thuer and its secretary Amenka Achumi.

The Ministry of Home Affairs noted that the ceasefire will be governed by the mutually agreed-upon Ceasefire Ground Rules (CFGR). Both parties have expressed openness to reviewing and amending the CFGR as needed, ensuring that both sides participate in any future adjustments.
