Nagaland Chief Secretary Leads Meeting to Tackle Dimapur’s Traffic Congestion
Kohima: Nagaland Chief Secretary Dr. J. Alam convened a high-level meeting at the DC’s Conference Hall in Dimapur to address the growing issue of urban traffic congestion.
The meeting saw the participation of the District Administration, Commissioner of Police, urban planners, and officials from various departments, including the NHIDC.
Key concerns discussed included the increasing traffic volume, the inadequacy of road infrastructure, and the urgent need for effective traffic management strategies to ease congestion.
Participants delved into current challenges and proposed long-term solutions to improve urban mobility and reduce bottlenecks.
Dr. Alam stressed the importance of a collaborative approach to address the traffic issues, calling for innovative solutions and coordinated efforts across all departments.
He highlighted that traffic congestion had become a critical concern for the city and urged the adoption of measures that would ensure a sustainable transport system.
Among the recommendations were widening key roads, creating alternate routes, enforcing stricter parking regulations, and enhancing public transport systems.
The discussion also included plans for a detailed traffic management study and the introduction of smart traffic systems to further streamline traffic flow.
A review presentation by NHIDCL was also part of the meeting, with insights into the feasibility of the proposed solutions.
The meeting concluded with a resolution to implement practical measures swiftly to alleviate traffic issues, aiming to improve the commuting experience for Dimapur residents while balancing urban growth and environmental considerations.
Following the meeting, Dr. Alam also inspected the proposed Dimapur bypass to Kohima, near the new field check gate, accompanied by officials, urban planners, and representatives from NHIDCL.
