Nagaland Congress Condemns Freezing of Party Bank Accounts by BJP-led Government
Northeast Desk, 23rd March: The Nagaland Pradesh Congress Committee (NPCC) strongly denounced the recent freezing of the bank accounts of the All India Congress Committee (AICC), Indian Youth Congress (IYC), and National Students’ Union of India (NSUI) by the BJP-led government at the Centre.
In a statement issued by NPCC working president Khriedi Theunuo, the committee expressed astonishment and concern over what they termed as an “unwarranted move” by the government. The freezing of the Congress party’s bank accounts was deemed as an undemocratic action that threatens the foundational values of democracy in the country.
The NPCC emphasized that such actions aimed to cripple the functioning of the party, especially in the run-up to the upcoming elections. They viewed this move as a deliberate attempt to hinder the Congress party’s ability to effectively participate in the democratic process.
Theunuo highlighted the fear instilled by the BJP and its allies regarding the potential outcome of the elections. He asserted that the freezing of bank accounts indicated a lack of confidence in winning the elections through fair means, exposing the underlying apprehensions of the ruling party and its affiliates.
The NPCC urged the BJP-led government to immediately release the frozen bank accounts of the Congress party and its affiliated organizations, emphasizing the importance of upholding democratic principles and ensuring a level playing field for all political parties.
