Nagaland: Congress LS candidate Raises Alarm Over RSS Presence
Northeast Desk, 11th March: Supongmeren Jamir, President of the Nagaland Pradesh Congress Committee (NPCC) and Lok Sabha candidate, has expressed concern over the escalating influence of the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) in Nagaland. Speaking to Nagaland Post, Jamir underscored recent events in Assam targeting Christian minorities, denouncing anti-Christian policies.
Jamir highlighted RSS activities in Assam, citing restrictions imposed on Christian institutions regarding religious symbols and attire. He implicated Chief Minister Himanta Sarma, describing the situation as a “red alert” for Nagaland and accusing the BJP of undermining democracy to establish RSS dominance nationwide.
Warned of potential repercussions for Nagaland’s predominantly Christian population, Jamir called for increased public vigilance. He alleged that elected representatives were constrained by RSS and Modi-led government control, urging voters to uphold secularism in the upcoming elections.
Emphasizing the urgency of countering BJP and RSS influence, Jamir urged voters to make informed decisions on polling day and preserve Nagaland’s unique identity and values in light of developments in neighboring states.
Assuring a determined stance in the Lok Sabha elections, Jamir pledged to protect Naga and minority rights, uphold secularism, and defend the Indian Constitution against perceived threats from the BJP.
