Nagaland: Developing Players to Represent India in Football World Cups, Says AIFF Head
Guwahati: The All India Football Federation (AIFF) is working to create players who can compete for India in international football competitions.
President of the All India Football Federation (AIFF) Kalyan Chaubey made this statement in Kohima Nagaland.
According to Chaubey, the AIFF is working on a plan to build a potent national team that can compete in world cups.
Notably, FIFA has raised the number of participating teams from the current 32 to 48 for the 2026 FIFA World Cup.
The Indian football squad is currently ranked 106th.
Kalyan Chaubey stated that he would like to see young people from Nagaland play football at the highest level claiming that the state has good footballing potential.
The FIFA Football For School programme was introduced on Sunday in Kohima by Chaubey, who was on a two-day visit to Nagaland.
