Nagaland: Dimapur Police Enforces Prohibitory Orders Along Chumoukedima-Peren Border Amid Tensions

Dimapur: In response to increasing tensions along the Chumoukedima-Peren border, Dimapur Commissioner of Police Kevithuto Sophie, IPS, has issued a prohibitory order under Section 163 of the Bharatiya Nagarik Suraksha Sanhita, 2023. The move is aimed at preventing any potential outbreak of violence and maintaining peace in the affected areas.

The order specifically targets the stretch of highway from Vihuto Village to Khehoyi Village and Kiyevi Village, as well as the broader Chumoukedima-Peren Border Belt. Under the directive, the assembly of more than five people is strictly prohibited, and carrying lethal weapons, including firearms, lathis, spears, and machetes, is banned.

Effective immediately, the prohibitory measures will remain in force until further notice, ensuring law enforcement can respond swiftly to any unrest in the region. Given the gravity of the situation, the order was passed ex-parte and will be communicated to the public through press releases and official notice boards across district offices and police stations in Chumoukedima.

The police commissioner has urged the public to cooperate with authorities to ensure the preservation of peace and order in the area.
