Nagaland: Dimapur’s Road Over Bridge Near DDSC Stadium to Undergo Major Repairs After 50 Years

Northeast Desk, 30th September: The long-neglected Road Over Bridge (ROB) near DDSC Stadium in Dimapur is finally set to undergo significant repairs after half a century of service. This decision comes after years of reports highlighting the deteriorating condition of the structure, with initial concerns being raised as early as 2012.

The state government has officially approved the long-awaited project, which will involve extensive reconstruction work. According to officials, two critical spans of the bridge will be demolished and rebuilt using reinforced earth (RE) walls to ensure long-term durability. In addition to structural upgrades, the project will include restoring the pavement, footpaths, and crash barriers, as well as shotcreting to rehabilitate exposed sections of the road.

The Ministry of Road Transport & Highways (MoRTH) has allocated Rs 2.68 crore for the rehabilitation, following recommendations from a consultancy report. The contract for the project has been awarded to a local firm, M/s Innovative Construction, which has committed to completing the work within three months, though the official timeline allows for six months, barring any unexpected delays.

The much-needed repairs promise to improve safety and traffic flow in Dimapur, a major commercial hub of Nagaland.
