Nagaland: Drugs Worth Over Rs 34 Crore Destroyed in Dimapur
Dimapur: In a significant blow to the drug trade, the Nagaland Police on Wednesday destroyed narcotics and psychotropic substances worth over Rs 34 crore in Dimapur. The destruction was carried out by the Drugs Disposal Committee (DDC) at the Dimapur Municipal Council dumping ground.
The seized drugs, including brown sugar, heroin, crystal meth, and opium straw, were the result of 79 cases registered under the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances Act, 1985. These cases were registered across various police stations under the Commissioner of Police, Dimapur.
Methamphetamine, a highly addictive stimulant, was among the substances destroyed. The operation was conducted in the presence of senior police officials.
This latest drug bust follows a successful operation in September, where the Nagaland Police seized drugs worth Rs 30.05 crore and arrested 23 individuals. The relentless efforts of the state police in combating the drug menace have resulted in substantial seizures and arrests in recent months.
