Nagaland: ENPO Calls Urgent Meeting Following Lok Sabha Election Abstention
Northeast Desk, 23rd April: The Eastern Nagaland Peoples’ Organization (ENPO) has called for an urgent Central Executive Council (CEC) meeting slated for April 23, following its decision to effectively abstain from participating in the Lok Sabha elections held on April 19.
Scheduled to commence at 10 am, the meeting will take place at the CKS Hall, Tuensang Headquarters.
Considering the significance of the meeting, ENPO has issued specific instructions mandating the presence of key members.
The organization has directed the Tribal President and General Secretary, along with respective CEC members, to attend. Additionally, the President and General Secretary of the Frontal Organization, accompanied by office bearers, are required to be present. Moreover, a minimum of three representatives from federating units are expected to participate.
Compulsory attendance has been extended to the Executive Secretary and respective Eastern Baptism Association members, Talk Team, and ENPO Advisors.
In response to the showcase notice issued by the Nagaland chief electoral officer (CEO), ENPO has clarified that the primary intent behind the public notice declaring the shutdown was to preempt potential disturbances in the Eastern Nagaland region. The organization aimed to deter anti-social elements from inciting law and order issues during the electoral process.
