Nagaland Folkloric Group Invited to Perform at Toraja International Festival
Northeast Desk, 22nd July: The Nagaland Folkloric Group, a prominent folk music ensemble from Nagaland, has been invited to perform at the 12th Toraja International Festival in Indonesia, beginning August 10. The invitation comes from the Indonesian Ministry of Tourism & Creative Economy and Kharisma National Event.
The group, supported by the Task Force for Music & Arts (TaFMA), includes members Arenchenla Walling, Phangmei Konyak, Zisela Rudithonger, Sangbolong Jamir, Maongtemsu, and Mhasivolie Suokhrie.
Abu Metha, adviser to the Nagaland Chief Minister and Vice President of Indian Athletics, announced the news on social media, highlighting the opportunity for Naga artists to showcase their culture on an international stage. He praised the recent Asia Music Summit in Nagaland for fostering such cultural exchanges and credited Chief Minister Neiphiu Rio for the summit’s success.
The Nagaland government has expressed its appreciation to Kharisma National Event and Music Connect Asia for their support in facilitating this cultural representation.
