Nagaland Government Calls Monsoon Preparedness Meeting
Northeast Desk, 18th May: The Nagaland government has announced plans to convene a crucial monsoon preparedness meeting on May 20, signaling proactive measures to tackle potential challenges during the upcoming rainy season.
Chaired by the Chief Minister and the Chairman of Nagaland State Disaster Management Authority (NSDMA), the meeting will take place at the Chief Minister’s Secretariat in Kohima. Its primary objective is to assess and enhance the state’s readiness to effectively manage any monsoon-related emergencies.
In preparation for the meeting, the government has requested detailed reports on infrastructure maintenance and monsoon preparedness from key departments, including Public Works Department (PWD) Roads & Buildings, Home Guards Civil Defence & State Disaster Response Force (SDRF), Food & Civil Supplies (F&CS), and Health & Family Welfare (H&FW).
The meeting will witness the participation of various ministers and advisors responsible for critical sectors, ensuring comprehensive deliberations on strategies and action plans. Among those expected to attend are ministers overseeing PWD Roads & Buildings, Health & Family Welfare, Public Health Engineering Department (PHED), Rural Development (RD), Power, as well as advisors handling Urban Development (UD), Food & Civil Supplies, Information & Public Relations (IPR), and NSDMA.
The gathering underscores the government’s commitment to proactive disaster management and underscores its dedication to safeguarding the well-being of citizens during the monsoon season.
