Nagaland Government Directs Officers to Follow FCRA Guidelines on Foreign Hospitality
Kohima: The Nagaland government has issued a directive instructing its officers to strictly comply with the Foreign Contribution (Regulation) Act (FCRA) 2010, following an advisory from the Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA).
The directive comes amid growing concerns over officials accepting foreign hospitality without obtaining the required prior approval.
According to the advisory issued by the MHA’s Foreigners Division, certain officers have been found violating FCRA provisions by accepting hospitality from foreign entities without seeking permission through Form FC-2 on the FCRA portal.
The ministry emphasized that failure to secure prior approval, or accepting hospitality from unapproved hosts, is a legal violation and could result in penalties under the Act.
The advisory also highlighted potential national security risks associated with accepting hospitality from foreign sources, particularly those flagged for adverse activities.
It stressed that unregulated engagements with such entities could have serious implications for national security and governance.
In response, the Nagaland government has instructed all officers to adhere strictly to FCRA guidelines and ensure full compliance to avoid legal repercussions.
This move aligns with the MHA’s ongoing efforts to enhance oversight on foreign contributions and engagements, ensuring they do not compromise India’s sovereignty and security interests.
