Nagaland: Indian Army Officer Saves Two Young Boys from Drowning in Dhansiri River

Nagaland: In an act of extraordinary bravery, Major Vishavdeep Singh Attri of the Indian Army heroically saved two young boys from drowning in the Dhansiri River in Dimapur district on Sunday afternoon.

Stationed at Rangapahar Military Station, Major Attri leaped into action when he heard desperate cries for help as the two boys, aged 5 and 6, were swept away by the river’s powerful current.

The children had been playing by the riverbank when they unexpectedly slipped into the deep, fast-moving waters. As they struggled against the current, a nearby woman and bystanders called out for help. Major Attri, passing through the area, responded instantly.

Disregarding his own safety, he dove into the river, maneuvering through the challenging currents, thick mud, and vegetation to reach the boys.

Drawing on his advanced swimming skills and military training, Major Attri succeeded in bringing both children safely to shore. The boys, uninjured, were soon reunited with their families, who expressed immense gratitude for the officer’s quick thinking and courage.

Local residents who witnessed the dramatic rescue praised Major Attri’s selflessness, acknowledging that his decisive actions had averted a tragic outcome.

The Defence Public Relations Office issued a statement commending Major Attri’s heroism, celebrating his bravery as a testament to the Indian Army’s dedication to public service and community welfare.
