Nagaland Is Prepared To Receive G20 Delegates

Guwahati: The G20 Summit 2023 one of Nagaland’s greatest events will take place in Kohima on April 5.

This was informed by the state’s Chief Secretary J Alam.

According to him, it will be an enormous honour for India to hold the G20 presidency for a whole year from December 2022 and Nagaland like the other host states is taking an active part in G20 activities.

According to the G20 calendar, meetings will be held in roughly 33 cities throughout the year with Kohima hosting the majority of them, he said.

“Nagaland will host a business meeting, which will feature representatives of the G20 countries, on April 5, 2023. We are fully prepared to host the summit event,” he said.

“We are very excited to host the G20 event. We are started preparing for a grand welcome of the G20 delegates who will participate in the summit meeting in Nagaland,” he added.

The chief secretary added that the state anticipated hosting about 110 delegates, of which about 100 will come from the 28 G20 nations and the remaining from associated international organisations. The delegates will arrive on special flights on April 4 and then participate in the main events on April 5.

Informing that there will be business meetings and cultural programs that will showcase the strengths of Nagaland at the summit events, he said, “The focus of the meetings would be mostly on agri, allied and food processing industry, as well as tourism development of the state. We hope that through these events, the state would be able to create investment opportunities.”

He added that the delegates would receive a formal welcome upon their arrival on April 4 at the Capital Cultural Hall in Kohima. On April 5, business meetings would take place in the State Banquet Hall followed by a cultural evening and dinner at the Kisama heritage complex where the State intended to present its famous Hornbill Festival in honour of the visitors.

Additionally, he stated that preparations were being made to give the delegates a great welcome and that the infrastructure, particularly at the airport as well as the roads and venues were being spruced up.
