Nagaland: Kohima District Implements Traffic Restrictions for Road Improvement
Kohima: In a bid to streamline traffic flow and expedite road infrastructure development, Deputy Commissioner Kumar Ramnikant IAS has issued new directives for Kohima district.
From November 20 to November 27, 2024, Box Cutting Road will be temporarily closed to regular vehicular traffic. This closure is necessary to facilitate essential pavement upgradation work. Motorists are advised to utilize the alternate routes provided to avoid inconvenience.
In a positive development for the transportation sector, the Deputy Commissioner has lifted the axle restriction on Heavy Motor Vehicles (HMVs) traveling on National Highway-02 (NH-02). This decision comes after a comprehensive assessment by the National Highways and Infrastructure Development Corporation Limited (NHIDCL) and subsequent discussions at the Deputy Commissioner’s office.
To ensure the safety of road infrastructure and public safety, a maximum permissible weight limit of 30 tonnes, including the vehicle’s load, has been imposed on NH-02. This measure is aimed at preventing excessive stress on the road surface and minimizing the risk of accidents.
The Deputy Commissioner’s directives are expected to contribute to the overall improvement of Kohima’s road network and enhance the overall transportation experience for residents and visitors alike.
