Nagaland: March against AFSPA allowed with rider

Guwahati: Global Naga Forum (GNF) has been granted permission by Dimapur deputy commissioner (DC) Rajesh Soundararajan to organise a walkathon on January 10 and 11 from Super Market here to Piphema.

According to reports, Soundararajan stated that all COVID-19 SOPs and protocols should be followed.

The permit has been granted on the conditions that:

  1. all participants should be asymptomatic and fully vaccinated (taken both doses) against Covid-19
  2. security to hold the walkathon would be sought from Dimapur commissioner of police
  3. all visitors observe Covid-19 appropriate behaviors, including compulsory use of face mask, hand sanitizer and maintain social distancing
  4. organizers would responsible for ensuring strict adherence to the terms and conditions.

However, the DC warned that anyone who broke the requirements, including other existing 0rders/SOPs/guidelines for avoiding the spread of Covid-19, will be prosecuted under relevant portions of the Disaster Management Act, 2005, as well as section 188 of the Indian Penal Code and other legal laws.

It may be mentioned that all the organizers established particular criteria for all attendees ahead of the event.
