Nagaland Marks 61st Statehood Day with Reflection and Celebration

Northeast Desk, 1st December: In a spirit of both celebration and introspection, Nagaland is commemorating its 61st Statehood Day. Warm greetings were given to the populace by Governor La Ganesan and Chief Minister Neiphiu Rio, who acknowledged the historical trajectory and shared aspirations that have defined the dynamic state.

Regarding the event, Chief Minister Neiphiu Rio sent out the following message: “Warm regards on this 61st Statehood Day. We consider the path thus far, as well as the tenacity and group endeavors that have molded our character. We provide unique constitutional safeguards in remembrance of the previous leaders who cleared the path for the creation of our State.”

In a press release from PRO Raj Bhavan, Governor La Ganesan emphasized the day’s importance as a turning point in Nagaland’s history. He honored the leaders and pioneers whose foresight, perseverance, and contributions shaped the resilient and diversified state.

“We started a path of self-determination and development on this day sixty years ago, which helped Nagaland become a state with rich traditions and values. Additionally, we owe a debt of appreciation to Nagaland’s forefathers and leaders,” Governor La Ganesan said.

In his reflections on the extraordinary journey since gaining sovereignty, the governor highlighted the accomplishments that are deeply ingrained in the DNA of every Naga. Considerable progress has been made in terms of opportunities generated, infrastructure strengthened, and quality of life enhanced.

The Department of Information and Public Relations (DIPR) declared that the State Level function at Nagaland Civil Secretariat Plaza, Kohima, on December 1, 2023, will be streamed live to augment the festivities. The festivities will be streamed live on DIPR Nagaland’s official YouTube channel, enabling the public to virtually partake in the happy occasion.
