Nagaland Minister Jacob Zhimomi Calls for Public Participation in Cleanliness Efforts at Swachhata Hi Seva 2024
Northeast Desk, 3rd October: At the closing ceremony of the state-level Swachhata Hi Seva 2024 campaign on Wednesday, Nagaland’s Public Health Engineering and Cooperation Minister, Jacob Zhimomi, urged citizens to take personal responsibility for cleanliness. Addressing the misconception that sanitation is solely a government duty, Zhimomi emphasized the need for every individual to incorporate cleanliness into the fabric of Naga culture.
“Cleanliness should not just be a government initiative; it is a shared responsibility that should become a part of our daily lives and vibrant culture,” Zhimomi stated. He stressed that although the campaign has officially concluded, efforts to maintain cleanliness must continue.
Highlighting the state’s progress, Zhimomi proudly announced that Nagaland has achieved 747 open defecation-free (ODF) plus villages as of September 30, 2024. He encouraged further efforts to elevate Nagaland’s position in the national cleanliness rankings, calling for collective participation in this ongoing movement.
