Nagaland: NDPP Dismisses Allegations Regarding Delhi High Court Petition as “Baseless”
Northeast Desk, 16th September: The Nationalist Democratic Progressive Party (NDPP) has refuted recent allegations circulating in the media concerning a petition filed in the Delhi High Court. In an official statement, the NDPP labeled these claims as “baseless” and “lacking merit.”
The party clarified that the petition pertains to an election-related hearing scheduled for December 11, 2024. The complaint, initially filed in 2018, was previously deliberated by the Election Commission of India (ECI) in 2019, where it was dismissed due to a lack of substantive evidence.
“The current case is a mere continuation of the earlier complaint, which was rejected by the ECI. The allegations are unfounded and aim to undermine our electoral success,” the NDPP stated.
Since its formation in 2017, the NDPP has seen significant electoral victories, winning two state general elections, two Lok Sabha elections for Nagaland’s lone seat, and all by-elections since 2018. Given this track record, the party argued that any questions about its legitimacy are without basis.
“The NDPP is a fully recognized political entity under the ECI, having been granted state party status in 2018,” the party asserted. The ECI’s decision followed the NDPP’s strong performance in state elections and compliance with the Election Symbols (Reservation & Allotment) Order, 1968.
The NDPP reiterated its confidence in the judicial process, expressing hope that the Delhi High Court will uphold the ECI’s previous ruling, which dismissed the case as meritless. The party reaffirmed its commitment to the rule of law and the people of Nagaland.
