Nagaland: NDPP Secures Victory in Wokha Town Council Election, NCP and BJP Also Gain Seats

Northeast Desk, 29th June: In the recently concluded municipal polls in Nagaland, the Nationalist Democratic Progressive Party (NDPP) emerged victorious in the Wokha town council election, securing seven out of 15 seats. The Nationalist Congress Party (NCP), led by Ajit Pawar, secured five seats, while the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) won three seats.

This closely contested electoral battleground saw 19 candidates vying for the 15 wards, reflecting keen competition among the political parties. According to reports, the NDPP also clinched a decisive win in the Chiephobozou Town Council in Kohima, with its candidates elected unopposed across all nine wards, underscoring a strong mandate from the electorate.

The municipal polls covered 24 urban local bodies spread across 10 districts of Nagaland, encompassing three municipalities and 21 town councils. The counting process commenced at 8 am and was conducted simultaneously at 16 centers across the state, as confirmed by PTI.
