Nagaland: Permission Granted for Controlled Stone Blasting Along NH 61 in Mokokchung
Kohima: The Deputy Commissioner of Mokokchung, Thsuvisie Phoji, has authorized JKM Infra Works from Guwahati, Assam, to carry out stone blasting operations today, January 9, 2025.
The operation is part of a road-widening project on the two-lane stretch from DEF Police Church to Yisemyong along NH 61 (New NH 02). Scheduled between 3:00 PM and 10:00 PM, the activity will take place at the Angetyongpang Tzu River area.
Strict guidelines have been issued to ensure the safety of the public and surrounding properties. The contractor is mandated to prioritize the security of lives and property along the road during the blasting operation. Furthermore, JKM Infra Works must comply with all provisions of the Explosives Act and Rules, 2008.
The company will bear full responsibility for any damage to life or property resulting from the blasting activity. The permit is valid only for the specified date and timeframe, underscoring the importance of adhering to the safety protocols laid out by the administration.
The road widening initiative is a significant infrastructure project aimed at enhancing connectivity in the region. While it promises to improve transportation and facilitate development, the authorities have emphasized that public safety remains a paramount concern during the execution of high-risk activities such as controlled stone blasting.
