Nagaland Police Arrest Two from Nagpur for Alleged Fraud

Northeast Desk, 13th February: A Nagaland Police team has apprehended two individuals from Nagpur, Maharashtra, on suspicion of defrauding a doctor from Nagaland of Rs 55 lakh. The accused, identified as Amul Prakash Tong (40) and Prateek Jairam Nikhade (35), both residents of Nagpur, allegedly operated a sports equipment and furniture sales office in the city.

According to officials, the doctor from Dimapur, Nagaland, approached Tong and Nikhade in 2021 with plans to open a game zone and purchase equipment. After striking a deal, the doctor transferred Rs 55 lakh to them. However, the accused failed to fulfill their end of the agreement, prompting the doctor to file a complaint with the Dimapur Police, resulting in the registration of a fraud case.

With the assistance of the Nagpur Police, the Nagaland Police successfully apprehended the suspects on Saturday. The court has granted transit remand to Nagaland Police for further proceedings in the case.
