Nagaland Police Destroy Drugs Worth Over ₹35 Crore in Dimapur and Mon Districts

Kohima: In a major crackdown on narcotics, Nagaland Police destroyed drugs valued at over ₹35 crore during two separate operations in Dimapur and Mon districts.

According to officials, the destroyed contraband included brown sugar, heroin, crystal meth, Yaba tablets, cough syrup bottles, and opium straw.

The District Drug Disposal Committee Dimapur (DDDCD) led the operation, disposing of narcotics worth ₹34.82 crore on January 19 at the DMC dumping ground in Burma Camp.

he Mon district operation saw drugs valued at ₹22.5 lakh destroyed.

The seized narcotics underwent physical verification on January 4, conducted by the committee led by the Commissioner of Police, Dimapur, to ensure transparency in the process.

Methamphetamine, commonly known as ‘ice’ or ‘crystal meth,’ and Yaba tablets were among the key substances destroyed.

Both are highly addictive and pose severe risks to public health, as methamphetamine affects the central nervous system.

The destruction operation was carried out in the presence of the Commissioner of Police, representatives from the district administration, and officials from three districts, marking a significant step in combating drug abuse and trafficking in the region.
