Nagaland: Polling Underway for Bye-Election in Mon District’s 43 Tapi Assembly Constituency

Northeast Desk, 7th November: The bye-election in the 43 Tapi Assembly Constituency, situated in the Nagaland’s Mon district is currently underway with heightened security measures in place.

 Voting commenced at 7:00 AM today and is taking place across 23 polling stations within five sectors.

A total of 15,256 voters are expected to participate and determine the fate of NDPP candidate Wangpang Konyak and Congress candidate Wanglem Konyak, as reported.

According to Sub-Divisional Officer (Civil) & Returning Officer (RO) for the 43 Tapi A/C, Rongsenmenla, out of the 15,256 eligible voters in Tapi Constituency, 7,788 are male, 5,464 are female, and 70 are service voters, which includes 121 postal ballots.

She also mentioned that the law and order situation in the constituency has remained peaceful, and she is optimistic that the polling will be conducted in a free and fair manner.

The RO further stated that Central Armed Police Forces (CAPF), Nagaland Police, and Indian Reserve Battalion (IRB) personnel have been deployed to ensure that the elections are carried out freely, fairly, and peacefully. The report also noted that the counting of votes is scheduled for December 3.
