Nagaland: Power Shutdown in Parts of Kohima for Jungle Clearance and Maintenance
Northeast Desk, 5th October: In an effort to ensure the stability of the power supply and to facilitate jungle clearance and maintenance of 33 kV lines, the Power Department transmission division in Kohima has announced scheduled power shutdowns in parts of Kohima starting from October 10, 2023, until November 1, 2023. The shutdowns are planned to occur daily from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m.
The Power Department has indicated its intention to minimize the duration of total shutdowns. However, intermittent disruptions in power supply are expected in some areas during the jungle clearance activities, which are considered unavoidable.
The scheduled areas (feeders) that will undergo total shutdown during this period are as follows:
- Southern Angami area (33kV Jakhama) from October 10 to October 13, 2023.
- Northern Angami area (33kV Botsa) from October 14 to October 20, 2023.
- Zunza and Lalmati area (33kV Lalmati & API feeder) from October 27 to October 30, 2023.
- Chakhabama & Chozuba area (33kV Chakhabama) from October 31 to November 1, 2023.
The Power Department has requested the understanding and cooperation of all consumers and the public, acknowledging the inconvenience caused by these necessary maintenance efforts. This initiative aims to enhance the reliability and efficiency of the power supply in the region.
It’s worth noting that a recent blackout affecting several districts in Nagaland was attributed to a grid disturbance, which disrupted power supply in Dimapur, Chümoukedima, Niuland, and Peren, among other areas. The Power Department continues its efforts to maintain and improve the power infrastructure in the state.
