Nagaland Sets Up Task Force to Boost Animation, Gaming, and Digital Media Sector
Kohima: The Nagaland government has taken a significant step toward fostering the animation, gaming, and digital media sector by establishing a dedicated task force comprising representatives from at least 12 key stakeholder departments.
The decision was made during a high-level meeting attended by Chief Secretary Dr. J Alam and senior officials, aiming to develop the Animation, Visual Effects, Gaming, Comics, and Extended Reality (AVGC-XR) industry in the state.
Officials from departments including Higher Education, Finance, Planning & Transformation, Law & Justice, Information Technology & Communications, Education & SCERT, and Industries & Commerce participated in the meeting. The newly formed task force has been entrusted with drafting a policy framework to provide strategic direction for AVGC-XR development in Nagaland. In addition, the meeting decided to establish a state-level steering committee to oversee and support initiatives in the sector.
The AVGC-XR industry represents a rapidly growing domain within the entertainment and digital media landscape. By integrating traditional creative content such as animation and comics with advanced immersive technologies like Virtual Reality (VR), Augmented Reality (AR), and Mixed Reality (MR), this sector opens up a wide range of possibilities. Its applications extend beyond entertainment, influencing areas like education, training simulations, and interactive experiences.
Nagaland’s move to invest in AVGC-XR reflects its ambition to position itself as a hub for digital innovation and creative technology. With the formation of the task force and steering committee, the state aims to create opportunities for young creators, entrepreneurs, and businesses in this evolving industry.
