Nagaland: Traffic Advisory Issued for Box Cutting Road Repair; Landslides Affect NH-29 in Kohima
Northeast Desk, 10th August: Deputy Commissioner Kumar Ramnikant has issued a traffic advisory for Box Cutting Road in Kohima, detailing planned road repair and maintenance work from August 10 to 14, 2024. During this period, vehicular traffic will face significant restrictions. The road will be completely closed to all vehicles on August 10 and 11. From August 12 to 14, there will be partial reopening, allowing only downward vehicular traffic. Motorists are advised to use alternative routes via Ladies Mile Road and the NHAK-TCP gate during the road closure.
In addition to the roadwork on Box Cutting Road, DC Ramnikant has addressed the impact of recent landslides and landslips on National Highway 29 (NH-29), which connects Kohima and Dimapur. The incessant rains have severely affected the highway, particularly in the areas of Dzuchie, Dzudza (GREF Temple), and Kezanu, Jotsoma (Old KMC dumping site). The administration is currently engaged in removing debris and repairing the damaged road sections.
The public is advised to exercise caution while traveling through NH-29 until the necessary restoration work is completed.
