Nagaland’s 25th Hornbill Festival to Highlight International Cultural Diplomacy with Peru as Partner Country
Kohima: Nagaland is gearing up for a globally significant 25th Hornbill Festival, with Peru confirmed as a key partner country.
The collaboration was finalized after Nagaland Chief Minister Neiphiu Rio met with Peruvian Ambassador H.E. Javier Manuel Paulinich Velarde, setting the stage for a dynamic cultural exchange during the festival.
Peru’s participation will include performances and artistic showcases by Peruvian artists, marking a milestone in fostering bilateral cultural relations. This comes alongside Japan’s confirmed presence, following Rio’s recent discussions with Japanese Embassy representatives Takashi Ariyoshi and Mayumi Tsubakimoto.
The Hornbill Festival, celebrated for its vibrant cultural and artistic showcases, will now feature diverse international representations from Peru, Japan, and Wales. These collaborations reflect Nagaland’s growing diplomatic influence and its commitment to international cultural diplomacy.
Key attractions at the festival include traditional performances, workshops, handicraft exhibitions, and collaborative programs. A notable addition this year is Toyota’s partnership with the State Government’s Task Force for Music & Arts (TAFMA), aiming to enhance the festival’s artistic and technological appeal.
The inclusion of Peru, Japan, and Wales as partner countries underscores the Hornbill Festival’s evolution into a platform for global cultural exchange, making the 2024 edition a landmark event.
