Nagaland’s CTAN Advocates for Age Relaxation in Government Service Entry
Northeast, August 19 – The Combined Technical Association of Nagaland (CTAN) has voiced strong support for extending the age relaxation for entry into government services to 37 years. This call was formalized in a representation submitted to the Chief Minister of Nagaland by the Concerned Aspirants Group on July 22, 2024.
Currently, the age limit for government job aspirants is set at 35 years. However, the CTAN argues that the COVID-19 pandemic caused a significant disruption in competitive examinations, impacting the career prospects of many aspirants. While the government issued a two-year age relaxation order from the Personnel & Administrative Reforms (P&AR) department, it did not fully resolve the issue for those nearing the upper age limit.
CTAN has urged the authorities to extend the relaxation period by an additional five years to ensure equitable opportunities for all candidates. The association highlighted the high levels of frustration among unemployed youth in India, particularly noting that Nagaland has one of the highest rates of unemployment among the youth.
The CTAN’s representation calls for a commitment from the government to address these concerns and deliver a fair solution to the affected candidates.
