Guwahati: Additional Superintendent of Police, ASP Dhruba Bora has been given a temporary charge of Superintendent of Police (SP) in Nagaon until further orders.
The Nagaon SP Anand Mishra was transferred to the Assam Police Headquarters, Ulubari with immediate effect.
After police shot a student leader Kirti Kamal Bora in Nagaon recently, Dispur Anand Mishra became embroiled in controversy. The event sparked widespread outrage, prompting a government investigation that found the officers on duty guilty. Bora sustained injuries in the fight and is recovering at Gauhati Medical College and Hospital.
According to a government announcement issued late Wednesday, Mishra has been assigned to the Assam Police Headquarters in Guwahati.
The transfer comes just one day after the state administration requested that DGP Pradeep Bania be suspended in connection with the same issue.
