Guwahati: The Assam Police has filed a 400-page charge-sheet in connection with the murder of Nandita Saikia in Dhemaji.
The Assam government had directed the police to conduct a speedy investigation and file the charge sheet against the accused.
Keeping in view the sensitivity of the case, the charge sheet has been submitted after 36 days against the accused named Rintu Sharma.
Rintu was charged under sections 342/324/307/302 of the Indian Penal Code.
It may be mentioned on August 26, the girl who was “brutally” attacked with a machete and succumbed to her injuries. The girl who belonged to Assam’s Lakhimpur.
Sharma had not only attacked Nandita, but also one of her classmates. It was reported that he attacked Nandita because she had rejected his “marriage proposal”.
