Nandita’s case to be handled by Fast Track Court
Guwahati: The Assam Government has announced that a fast track court will be initiated to bring justice to the Dhemaji machete attack victim namely Nandita Saikia.
The announcement was made by Education Minister Ranoj Pegu after the cabinet meeting that is held on every Wednesday. The Minister announced that the case apart from being heard at a fast track court will also be handled by Special Director General of Police, GP Singh.
It may be mentioned that Nandita who was “brutally” attacked with a machete last Saturday, succumbed to her injuries on Wednesday.
The girl who belonged to Assam’s Lakhimpur was allegedly attacked by a person named Rintu Sarma. Sarma had not only attacked Nandita, but also one of her classmates. It was reported that he attacked Nandita because she had rejected his “marriage proposal”.
Nandita was on the ventilator at a private hospital in Dibrugarh and was admitted in a severe condition. They were earlier taken to the Dibrugarh Medical College and Hospital but were then referred to the private hospital.
A video clip of the entire incident is also doing rounds on social media and the accused is seen confessing his crime on the video while holding the machete with blood still dripping from it.
