National Resolve Solidifies as Assam CM Vows Hunt for Pahalgam Attackers

Guwahati: In the wake of the devastating attack in Pahalgam, Jammu and Kashmir, Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma has pledged that India will relentlessly pursue and apprehend every individual responsible for the massacre that claimed 26 lives.

Sarma, articulating his unwavering conviction via the social media platform X, declared, “I have full faith that Bharat will hunt down each and every one of those cowards responsible for the dastardly attack in #Pahalgam today.” His statement underscored the nation’s unified stance in supporting the families who have suffered immeasurable loss during this harrowing period.

The violent assault, which unfolded on a Tuesday afternoon within a frequented meadow near Pahalgam, has resulted in the confirmed deaths of 26 people, predominantly tourists. Officials have confirmed that the victims include two foreign nationals and two local residents, marking this incident as the most lethal terrorist act within the Kashmir Valley since the 2019 Pulwama attack. The sheer scale of the casualties has plunged the region into mourning, highlighting the persistent threat of terrorism.

Former Manipur Chief Minister Biren Singh also added his voice to the chorus of condemnation, extending his deepest condolences to the affected families. Singh issued a stern warning, asserting that “those who challenge the nation will pay a heavy price,” signalling a unified national resolve against such acts of terror. Meanwhile, Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Omar Abdullah has indicated that authorities are still in the process of ascertaining the final casualty count from the terrorist strike, as investigations continue.
