Navjot Singh Sidhu mocks PM’s security breach in Panjab
Guwahati: The chief of the Panjab Congress Committee, Navjot Singh Sidhu, dredged up the claim of “empty chairs” as he stepped up his criticism of the BJP over the claimed security breach during Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s visit to the state.
Sidhu, echoing Punjab Chief Minister Charanjit Singh Channi, said security is being made an issue to take attention away from the fact that seats at the public meeting in Ferozepur that PM Modi was scheduled to visit on Wednesday remained unoccupied.
CM Charanjit Channi had earlier denied any security failure or threat to the prime minister’s life during a press conference when his convoy was stopped on a flyover on the way to Ferozepur.
“There were 70,000 chairs put up at the Ferozepur public rally location of the BJP, but barely 700 people showed up (for the BJP event), what can I do?” the chief minister said.
Meanwhile, the Punjab Congress is claiming “70,000 chairs and barely 700 attendance” and using the hashtag ‘70000 Kursi 700 Bande’ to spread the word.
“PM Modi’s ego has been bruised by the fact that hardly one showed up for his rally in Punjab. Because Modi did not interact with farmers for over a year, Punjabis did not listen to him. The BJP is only attempting to hide the reality that their rally in Punjab was a complete failure, “Panjab Committee said.
